What LIFE Really Means
Every system I write about here is trying to move one thing: the quality of a life. But you can't improve what you haven't defined. So before any framework for getting things done or building influence, I had to answer a more basic question — what am I actually optimising for?
The answer I keep landing on fits, a little too neatly, into the word itself. LIFE, for me, comes down to four things: Love, Impact, Freedom, and Enjoyment.
Love
The relationships. Who you spend your days with, who you'd call at 2am, who calls you. Almost everyone, at the end, measures their life in people rather than achievements. I try to remember that while there's still time to act on it.
Impact
The sense that your existence made a dent — that someone or something is better because you were here. It doesn't have to be grand. It just has to be real, and it has to be yours.
Freedom
The ability to choose. What you do, who you do it with, when you say no. Money buys some of it, but so do skills, health, and a life kept deliberately uncluttered. Freedom is the thing most of my systems are quietly in service of.
Enjoyment
The part that's easy to defer forever. A life spent entirely building toward a someday that never arrives isn't a strategy — it's a trap. Enjoyment is the reminder that the ride itself counts, not just the destination.
None of this is a scientific model. It's a compass. When a decision is hard, I ask which option gives me more Love, Impact, Freedom, or Enjoyment — and usually the fog clears. Everything else on this blog is just machinery in service of those four.
